Running and jogging for pleasure with Fittleworth Flyers in West Sussex
Winter
training on the track
We all enjoy running for a variety of reasons: as a way to get or keep fit, for competition, or just for fun. Fittleworth Flyers welcomes runners of all abilities, and whatever their reason for running.
We aim to provide enjoyable training sessions to improve fitness and performance for everyone. Sessions are planned and structured, but everyone takes part at their own pace and level.
We encourage the use of individual exercise zones, so each runner trains at a level which helps them to improve, but which is also achievable and satisfying. There is always a trainer present who will help you get the most from your training.
There are two club training sessions each week, on Tuesday evenings and Saturday mornings. As you would expect with Fittleworth Flyers, training is also a sociable occasion!
The Club offers structured training sessions at several locations, alternating weekly, and changing for summer or winter programmes.
All abilities can come along and take part. Sessions include road, trail, track and hill runs. This variety ensures training remains accessible and interesting for everyone.
The Saturday morning run is an enjoyable countryside run, using a variety of routes around Fittleworth and on the Downs.
All abilities can come along and take part. There are normally 3 distance options of about 5, 7 and 9 miles. We run in groups of similar ability, with a leader so no-one gets lost.
At Storrington, people gather in the Chanctonbury Centre foyer before and after running, for that essential consultation session. At Broadbridge Heath, there is the opportunity to enjoy a hot chocolate (or other beverage!), and convivial chat, in the pleasant bar lounge, whilst recovering from a track session. After Saturday runs, refreshments are always offered.
